Sunday Suppers Goes to Greece

The current version of Barbara-jo's Sunday Supper series continues to have a wonderful time exploring the international offerings of Cindy Pawlcyn's Cindy's Supper Club.  For the group's second gathering, resident chef Glenys Morgan prepared a menu celebrating the food of Greece. It was more fun than dancing on tables or breaking plates on purpose.

While Barbara-jo entertained us with her various adventures in that part of the world, guests enjoyed a meal that was perfect for a rainy evening in Vancouver.  Appetizers included a colourful Winter Double-Beet Salad and a Cretan Mixed Vegetable Casserole.  The entree was a hearty Lamb Stew with Garlic, Parsley and Vinegar. The meal was accompanied by a lovely selection of Spanish wines.

Personally, my favourite course was the final one. In a slight deviation from the featured book, dessert  included a delicious Black Pepper Lemon Sweets Cookie.  One of Glenys's entries in Books to Cookies, Barbara-jo's latest publishing venture from her french apple press imprint.  The handsome pamphlet book - which includes festive illustrations by celebrated local artist Bernie Lyon - features a selection of favourite cookie recipes from the Books to Cooks staff.  Just in time for your holiday baking.
