An evening of Poetry and Music

Danny.JPG

Books to Cooks had the pleasure of hosting a poetry reading by Danny Peart on September 26. Here in the cosy shop, Danny read to us from his new book Ruined By Love about love (obviously), longing, a black dog and a white bear.  His words came to life as they were spoken and paired with music performed by  vocalist Robyn Roscoe and guitarist Luis Sojo.

Mark cooked for us from his current favourite books. From The French Market Cookbook by Clotilde Dusoulier:  Roasted Beet Soup with Baby Spinach and Squash Seed Pesto, Crunchy Lentil and Watercress Salad, and a Rustic Mushroom tart inspired by the Mushroom and Chive Quiche recipe. And from Lark: Cooking Against the Grain, our guests were treated to a deconstructed version of the Summer Pudding.

Two poetic representatives from E & J Gallo Winery were here too and kept our glasses filled with Whitehaven Marlborough Pinot Noir, Edna Valley San Louis Obispo Chardonnay and La Marca Prosecco.

A lovely evening of food for the body and soul.
