Fall Book Club Gets Merrily Launched
The latest edition of Barbara-jo's Wednesday evening reading club got off to a rousing start with an inaugural cocktail reception and dinner prepared by resident chef Glenys Morgan. Guests - a welcome mixture of veteran book clubbers as well as newcomers - were treated to a multi-course, vegetarian-themed menu that was as healthy as it was delicious.
Handpicked by Barbara-jo, the trio of featured books include two critically-acclaimed memoirs that celebrate how good food can make a passionate difference in our lives - To Eat: A Country Life by Joe Eck and Wayne Winterrowd and Blue Plate Special by Kate Christensen. The third selection is a fascinating study by William Sitwell on the history of food as told through a hundred specifically selected recipes. Appropriately titled: A History of Food in 100 Recipes.
All three books are available at the shop. along with many other surprises for food lovers and book lovers alike.
