BITTER and more..............

Recently in shop, we hosted a brilliant event with Jennifer McLagan and her new book about BITTER, a taste of the World's most Dangerous Flavour.    One of the facts Jennifer educated us about has lingered long in my brain.  Carl Linnacus, a Swedish doctor and the father of animal and plant classification, who also named the source of quinine, turned his attention to taste.  He created a list of eleven basic tastes: bitter, fatty, sour, astringent, sweet, salty, sharp, viscous, insipid, aqueous, and nauseous,   I love reading information that strengthens my knowledge.

Thank you Jennifer for Bones, Fat, Oddbits and Bitter.
