A Sizzling Summer Season
Summer is finally here and Books to Cooks celebrates long summer evenings with a series of grilling classes.
Our grilling series begins this Thursday, July 7 at 6:30 p.m. featuring Italian Grill by Mario Batali. Recipes in Italian Grill range from pizzas and flatbreads to Italian style ribs. This informative book includes helpful information on grilling techniques as well as a historical and cultural perspective. Chef Glenys Morgan demonstrates a mouthwatering Italian menu that includes favourites such as Mussels alla Piastra with Prosciutto Bread Crumbs and Rosticciana (Ribs Italian-style). A few spots are available for this evening's class and are $105.00.
On Thursday, July 21 at 6:30 p.m. it's all about Sauces, Rubs and Marinades by BBQ guru, Steven Raichlen. Chef Glenys Morgan demonstrates and discusses how to enhance grilling using the technique of flavour layering. Guests will enjoy learning about and tasting a myriad of grilled delicacies enhanced by marinades, cures, rubs and sauces that will add variety to summer grilling. The cost of this event is $80.00.
On Thursday, August 11 at 6:30 p.m. get down to barbecue basics at our How to Grill class. This evening we feature How to Grill: The Complete Illustrated Book of Barbecue Techniques by Steven Raichen when Chef Glenys Morgan fires up the barbecue and demonstrates some of the key techniques for the best outdoor grilling in town. She will also help guests take it beyond the basics with more advanced tips and techniques. Seats for this event are $100.00.
Take a grilling tour of the Mediterranean on Thursday, August 25 at 6:30 p.m. when we celebrate great grilling traditions in Mediterranean Grilling by Diane Kochilas. This evening Chef Glenys Morgan is our culinary tourguide as she demonstrates an irresistible array of contemporary and traditional grilled specialties.This event is $105.00.
