This weekend: Three events with Chef Daniel Patterson in Vancouver
We welcome Chef Daniel Patterson to Vancouver this weekend.
Here at the shop, we have a few volumes of poetry- “food for the soul”, we say. And every so often we receive a gift from a cookbook author: a book filled with recipes and photos, yes, but woven together with words that ring as true as the finest poetry.
Our most recent gift of this nature is Daniel Patterson’s Coi, Stories and Recipes. The book recounts the journey of Patterson's innovative San Francisco restaurant, its signature dishes (from producer to plate) and Patterson’s own food philosophy. It’s a beautiful blend of both written and photo essays, with recipes of course.
Daniel is the head chef/proprietor of Coi Restaurant and uses a blend of local, wild and cultivated ingredients to create dishes that speak of place, memory and emotion. This unique approach has won him two Michelin stars and a reputation for pioneering a new Californian cuisine.
We are thrilled to welcome Daniel to Vancouver this weekend. There are three opportunities available for you to meet him and hear his stories:
November 3, 3-4 p.m., Barbara-Jo’s Books to Cooks
- A Chef’s Potluck with Chef Quang Dang from West Restaurant, Chef Scott Jaeger from The Pear Tree, Chef Andrew Richardson from Cin Cin and of course, Chef Daniel Patterson.
November 3, 5-7 p.m., Barbara-Jo’s Books to Cooks
- A Dinner at West Restaurant, prepared from Coi by Chef Quang Dang
November 4, 6:30-9:30 p.m., West Restaurant
